The first Alliance Tournament rolled out on 1/24/2016 and will last for 5 days. New prizes that we have become used to in our NPC events are now available in this PvP event. This has been done to gather more interest in PvP attacks.
Overview:
Return of the Alliance Tournament
- The Alliance Tournament is making its grand return to the world of Empire!
- With its return, the Tournament will offer all new rewards and activity rewards for you and your alliance
- The system will work much like the other events, granting activity prizes at certain stages, with larger prizes for the ‘Top X’ players
- One of the reward packages that will be introduced was voted for by you, the community! Keep your eyes peeled!
The Prizes are quite attractive, especially for the top 20 and above.
When you see this PvP event start you must set up your defenses similar to how you would prepare for a Foreign Invasion. One big difference, however, is that you can be attacked multiple times! There also is no limit to attacks being executed against properties other than your Main in Green. There is an unwritten server rule about not attacking OPs unless in war, but that is not official and it depends on the individual alliance and whether or not they follow it.
Expect hits on your OPs in Green, as well as on your castles in the outer kingdoms. It is better to be prepared than not.
Defense suggestions:
(These are subject to change, once we see what happens in this first Alliance Tournament)
For Level 50 players and below, set up your defense up as normal. Work on your Main's Castellan to be the strongest. Equip the Castellans in your outer kingdom castles as best you can with Melee bonus the strongest. Or you can also opt for no defense (Poor Man's Open Gates) and move your attackers to RVs and accept the fires.
For Level 70 players, when preparing for attacks from players with the Super/Uber/God Commanders, it is important to discourage them from viewing you as a nice juicy Glory target, and stop them from wanting to come back to attack, again and again.
If any Commander has 50%+ bonus in the Courtyard and your Castellan cannot match that, it is not a good battle to fight. Even if we send 10k in Support and the Attacker loses, and takes out 5k of our troops, they WILL be back, having racked up a lot of Glory Points. And we may not have another 10k of defense after a couple of hits, and then be unable to support the lower levels that get attacked.
A Fire Reduction Castellan (FRC) is strongly suggested as something a level 70 player should have or be working towards. It's a good idea to keep it set up in Storm as you normally don't need to worry about defending there. Having 7 FRCs is not very easy, and takes a lot of time to build, but even if you only have one, you can put it your Main or have it ready, as needed for other castles.
Please go to the Equipment page and read about Fire Reduction Castellans
For Level 51-69 players, you fall in between, and can either defend, use a Fire Reduction Castellan, or do Open Gates (which costs RUBIEs) or do Poor Man's Open Gates. More will come as we research the results of this event.
Supporting: I would like to have a designated flag color (currently, White) for all those using a Fire Reduction Castellan so that we know who/when we should and should not support. Do not just say in Chat that you don't want Support, send a Mass Mailing if you must. The worst thing, for your teammates to do is send Support to a Fire Reduction Castellan and lose everything.
1. Check the Flag (is it White?)
2. Check the travel overview, if you see that they've sent troops to a teammate who is under protection, you can safely assume they might not be defending. Then...
3. Do a spy report.
4. Ask others if they know if xyz is using a Fire Reduction Castellan.
Attacking
At the moment we are not participating as an Alliance in this event. Things may change down the road but for the mean time follow our regular rules:
1. Attack players who are not aligned. (Vary, don't farm active, unaligned players daily), using our -25% rule.
2. If you see a player in a small, independent alliance that is not a sub of a warring alliance, ask for the okay from an officer.
3. If you think a player or alliance is inactive, ask first. There are some that are okay to hit.
4. If someone attacks you, you may retaliate regardless of the level.
During the second time this event ran, it was during the Foreign Invasion. We are enjoying many rewards.
